Kathryn (Patty) Virginia Malley, 92, of Preston Minn., passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, surrounded by her family.
Patty was born on September 4, 1928, in Preston, Minn., to Olaf and Bertha Hanson. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Malley on January 19, 1948, and they made their home in Fountain and Preston. Patty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She truly appreciated precious time spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed attending local parades with her husband in their ’64 Dodge Dart and occasional trips to the casino. In her spare time, you could find her reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Patty is survived by one daughter, Robin Malley of Rochester; one daughter-in-law, Binh Chiglo of Wabasha; one grandson, Travis (Melissa) Malley of Preston; four granddaughters, Tracy (Keith) Medes of Hammond, Wis., Tiffany (Rob) Ottesen of Rochester, Bethany (Nishan) Wijesinghe of Asheville, N. C., and Sasha (John Fugazy) Chiglo of Vancouver, British Columbia; seven great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Jeanne Malley of St. Cloud; many nieces and nephews, and life-long best friend, Phyllis Tolaken.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jerry; one sister, Betty Bjortomt, three brothers-in-law: Reuben Bjortomt and Clayton and Francis Malley; and one sister-in-law, Mona Malley.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at the Fountain Lutheran Church in Fountain, Minn. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston at a future date and time as Patty has donated her body to medical research.
As a reminder, due to current COVID restrictions, there will be social distancing during the visitation/service, and everyone must wear masks.
