Kathleen Nelson obituary, Fillmore county Journal

Kathleen A. Nelson, age 81, of Houston, Minn., passed away on June 30, 2024 at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, Wis.

She was married to Arvid Nelson on February 25, 1961, until his passing in November 2022.

Kay was born on August 17, 1942, to Herb and Winnie Dunn in Caledonia, Minn.

She graduated from Loretto High School.

She was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Houston, Minn. She enjoyed many years of volunteer work in her community, with the most recent being the Houston Community Food Shelf and Saint Mary’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children Chris (Cokie) Nelson, Cindy (Jay) Samolinski, and Mark (Wendy) Nelson; grandchildren Chastity, Nick, Chance (Abbi), Sara (Jake), and Lea; great-grandchildren Talan and Dorothy, sister Mary (Leo) Dolle, sisters-in-law, Grace Staggemeye and Linda Meyer. She is also survived by her three beloved cats.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arvid, her parents, and brothers Jim and Mike Dunn.

Following Kay’s wishes, private family services will be held.
