Karol A. Horsman, 79, of Chatfield, Minn., died on Monday, August 10, 2020, at the home of her daughter Nadine.
Karol Anne Truhlar was born May 8, 1941, in Owatonna, Minn., to Donald and Alice (McRae) Truhlar. She attended and graduated from Johnson High School in 1959 and was united in marriage to Larry Horsman on July 30, 1960, in Fountain, Minn. Karol worked as a secretary at Hammel Equipment in Chatfield for 37 years, retiring July 15, 2015. In her younger years, Karol enjoyed riding horses, but also enjoyed reading, watching her children and grandchildren’s sport activities, and bird watching. She was a member of Pilot Mound Lutheran Church in Chatfield and its WELCA group.
Karol is survived by two sons, Rick Horsman of Chatfield, Minn., and Scott Horsman; two daughters, Kim (Pat Nickolay) Horsman of Mesquite, Nev., and Nadine (Kyle) Merkel of Spring Valley; five grandchildren: Samantha Larson, Ashley Rockvam, Dylan Horsman, Reed Merkel, and Karissa Merkel; sister Nancy (Wayne) Jeseritz of Maplewood, Minn., and brother Gordy “Butch” (Sue) Truhlar of Oakdale, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry Horsman, son Mike Horsman, son-in-law Brian Gathje, and grandson Trenton Merkel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020, from 4-7 p.m. at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley, Minn. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required and social distancing will be practiced. A Celebration of Life for Karol will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 14 at the home of Kyle and Nadine Merkel located at 16175 County Rd 12 in rural Spring Valley.
