Juanita M. Schaub, 94, of Richland Center, died Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Schmitt Woodland Hills. She was born on February 5, 1926, in Mason City, Ill., the daughter of Delta C. and Luella May (Hall) Lowe. Juanita graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Ill. While working in the dime store in Lincoln she met the love of her life, Henry W. Schaub. They were married on November 17, 1945, in Bloomington, Ill., at her sister’s house. They had to save enough sugar ration stamps for the wedding cake.
After farming for many years in the Mason City area, they decided to move their family to Wisconsin. After several years of looking for the right place, they found the Carl Valenta Farm in Richland Center and moved there on February 1, 1959. They farmed there for 36 years until they sold the farm and moved into a house in Richland Center.
Juanita was a woman of many talents. She was a very good bookkeeper and worked at Sears Roebuck and Company for seven years as a bookkeeper in the parts, catalog, and credit departments. Later she did the bookkeeping for their farm corporation, Schaub’s Green Ridge Farms. She also worked on the election board for the Town of Marshall. She could milk cows and help out with the field work when the need arose.
Her greatest love was her family and friends. She loved spending time with her family and was always ready for a girls’ day out with her daughters and anyone else that might tag along. She always had time to listen to what was new with her children and grandchildren. She cooked many a family meal for them and the many friends that came each summer to visit her and Henry. She always had a special meal for anyone with a birthday or a special occasion to help them celebrate.
She was a member of the Salt Creek Prairie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Mason City, Ill., and was a longtime member of the Putnam Homemakers.
Juanita is survived by her children: Linda (Myron) Peterson of Richland Center, Lela (Duane) Wenig of Dorchester, Iowa, William Schaub of Muscoda, Loretta (Daniel) Ewing of Richland Center, and Richard (BJ) Schaub of La Farge; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, two step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Henry; parents, two brothers, D. Clyde Lowe and Oanfa C. Lowe; and sister Eileen Judith Buse.
Private family services will be held at the Pratt Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Bloom Township.
