Joyce Sedell (Alfson) Bremseth, 89, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Gundersen Harmony Health Care in Harmony, Minn.
Joyce was born May 11, 1933, to Clarence and Signe (Elton) Alfson in Canton Township. She was the youngest of five children. She was baptized June 11, 1933, at the Henrytown Lutheran Church and confirmed on May 9, 1948 at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony, Minn. Joyce grew up in the Harmony area where she attended school and graduated in 1951.
Joyce married Neil Bremseth on July 11, 1955, in Harmony. They moved to Preston in January 1956. She worked in banks in Mabel, Spring Valley, and Preston. She also worked for Fillmore County in the auditor’s office for 31 years. Joyce was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and Christ Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling, sewing club, morning coffee at the Sweet Stop, and especially spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow.
Joyce is survived by her daughter Roxie (Jeff) Knies, her son Greg (Kim), five grandchildren: Marissa and Nolan Bremseth, Brooke (Dave) Nelson, Farrah (Oliver) Frost, and John Knies; six great-grandchildren: Dorthea (Shawn) Moore, Jenna (Cyrus) Cipriano, Kylie Shain (Joey Steien), Shea Fitzgerald, Charlie Frost, and Raven Knies; and two great-great-grandchildren, Magnus Moore and Myran Cipriano; sister-in-law Sylvia Bremseth, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, infant son, her parents, brothers Robert, James and Morris; her sister Ruth, sisters-in-law Teresa Bremseth, Marion Glenna, Marge Bremseth, Lois Alfson; brothers-in-law Harold Ihns, Richard Glenna, Marvin, Mervin, LeRoy, and Ronald Bremseth.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, Minn., with Pastor Mark Woodward officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the church, and will continue from 10-11 a.m. on Monday morning. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston.
Memorials may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church or the Ladies Auxiliary 6893 in Preston.
