To kick off 2022, the team at the Fillmore County Journal earned six awards at the Minnesota Newspaper Association annual conference.
Daily and weekly newspapers represented throughout all 87 counties in the State of Minnesota competed for top honors in various categories in the 155th annual convention held in Brooklyn Park on January 27 and 28.
The Fillmore County Journal team claimed top honors in six categories.

• First Place – General Reporting
• First Place – General Excellence
This is the first time over the past decade that the Fillmore County Journal team has earned first place for General Excellence, which is one of the highest overall honors a weekly newspaper can earn at the MNA Better Newspaper Contest.
The Fillmore County Journal is a local family-owned newspaper serving Mower, Fillmore and Houston Counties, employing the talent of 36 local individuals dedicated to providing the best weekly newspaper in the region.
Over the past five years, the team at this newspaper has amassed 131 awards cumulatively from the Minnesota Newspaper Association, Midwest Free Community Papers, and Association of Community Publishers. All awards have been earned in the categories of advertising, marketing, news, typography, graphic design, and overall presentation of content in print and online – covering all facets of the newspaper industry.
