John Edward Freiheit, of Spring Valley, Minn., passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022. He was 65 years old.
John was born to parents, Darrell and Shirley Freiheit, on December 13, 1956. John graduated from Wykoff Public School in 1975. After graduation, he continued working with his parents on the family farm in rural Preston, Minn., for nearly 25 years.
In 1977, John married his life-long partner, Janyce Sawdey, of LeRoy, Minn.
He is survived by his wife Janyce Freiheit, his brother Nicholas Freiheit, his four children: Jason Freiheit, Jaimie Freiheit, Josy Freiheit, and Jessica Freiheit; and three grandchildren.
John enjoyed reading and was an avid history buff. He also was a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. One of John’s favorite pastimes was to drive through the countryside with Janyce and enjoy the scenery and wildlife of south eastern Minnesota.
Although John had suffered a series of health setbacks over the last 15 years, including a battle with cancer, he continued to fight until the end. John’s strength and willpower will forever be a source of inspiration for his loved ones.
