With profound sadness, we announce the passing of both John and Lorelei Foss. Our loving and devoted parents and friends to all whose lives they touched.
Together in life and death, they both left us on September 11, 2021, at the age of 75. John grew up in Spring Grove, Minn., and attended St. Olaf College. Lorelei grew up in Minneapolis, Minn., where she attended the University of Minnesota. It was in college where John and Lori met.
Married for 53 years, they are survived by their daughters Melissa (Efrem) Vojta, Jennifer (Jason) Hyrup, Allison (Todd) Zych; eight beautiful granddaughters: Makenna, Rileigh, Jadyn, Addisyn, Emmersyn, Kaylee, Ashlee, and Milee; John’s sisters Carole O’Brien and Trish Ashman, and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. They were preceded in death by their parents Owen and Marguerite Foss, Addison and Anna Taylor, and son Erik Foss.
John loved to fish when he could and was an amazing cook and master bbq smoker. Lori enjoyed scrapbooking “pretty books” of their granddaughters’ memories and milestones, and loved to bake. She would make large amounts of treats for the church, along with family and friends.

Our hearts are saddened to hear of John and Lori’s passing. Two kinder people you would not have found. We will remember John as a happy man with a great smile, laugh and ability to tell a story! Lori as a devoted mother to her family, grandmother and friend. Lori’s work on the Vaaler genealogy will be appreciated for years to come.
Two new chairs have been placed at the card table in heaven and Oh, the “stories” that will be told! While we are sad to see John and Lori leave they will be received into Heaven with joyous revelry. Our prayers are with you the family, and John and Lori.

I worked for and with John at Starwood in Palm Desert. John and I would head up to his storage unit and grab his boat to go fishing. We both loved fishing… me for the water, John for the fishing! My wife Mina and and our children spent many evenings at their house and have so many fond memories.
I remember when he purchased a house in Texas to retire and then sold it and he and Lorelei moved to Denver so they could be closer to some of their grandchildren. My deepest condolences to the family; to lose one would be hard but both I cannot imagine your pain and sorrow. Mina and I didn’t stay in touch once they moved to Denver but we both are profoundly sad and stunned by this news. Of all the times that I thought about calling to say hello and didn’t… those regrets will linger.
