Joel Anthony Menuey Sr., age 76, of Dexter, Minn., passed away suddenly at home on November 10, 2025.

Joel was born on October 25, 1949, in Oelwein, Iowa, to Carl and Elba (Larson) Menuey. He attended Arlington Iowa School District and graduated from Starmont High School in 1967.  After graduation, Joel entered the Navy on USS Simon Lake which traveled all over the world.  He was sent to Vietnam 1968-1969 as a Medical Supply Transporter.  In 1971, Joel was honorably discharged from the Navy and entered a new phase in his life as a student at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, graduating with Bachelor’s in Business on May 11, 1975.

In 1972 he married Dawn Weston and had three children. They shared many adventures, traveling around the United States.

Joel was a member of Dexter United Methodist Church and the Adams Minn., Legion 146. After retiring 20 years as a postal carrier for Austin, Minn., USPS in 2006, Joel spent his time delivering Meals on Wheels and at the food shelf.

Joel is survived by his wife Dawn, of 53 years; daughter Michele (Aaron) Ekern of Rushford, Minn., and their daughter Megan; son Doug (Kretta) Menuey of Rose Creek, Minn., and their children Ethan, Weston and Sidney; son Joel Jr. (Natalie) Menuey of Rose Creek, Minn., and their children Hannah, Anthony and Axel.  He is also survived by in-laws Adelia “Leone” Menuey Blomgren, Ardith Barnes, Charlotte (Zeke) Seedorff, Roger (Judy) Weston and Rose Weston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ray Menuey, Wilbur Menuey and Janeane Michels; in-laws Dale and Janet Batterson, Norma and Ken Perry, Richard Barnes and beloved mother-in-law Minnie Weston.

Joel will be remembered for his goofy sense of humor and passion for his grandchildren.  Whether athletic, academic, or artistic, he was proud of all his children and grandchildren.
