The City of Harmony Arts Board is sponsoring an opening reception to honor Robbie Brokken at Bee Balm, a secondhand store and gift shop on Friday, October 28, from 5-7 p.m.
All are welcome to attend this fun event to view Robbie’s unique jewelry. The Exhibition will continue to be on display until the end of November 2022.
Robbie Brokken, a Harmony Minn., resident, has been making art her whole life. She is a well known Gallery Director who has represented hundreds of other artists in SE MN.
Robbie received a grant from the Southeast MN Arts Council to create and sell her eclectic jewelry at Bee Balm in Harmony, Minn. Robbie uses antique and vintage jewelry elements to create new and unusual pieces. She based her grant on artists being able to find affordable art supplies in second hand stores and thrift shops. Robbie finds elements that inspire her. As she finds these treasures, she is led in surprising design directions. The results are stunning, unusual pieces of jewelry full of “the soul” of the original elements.
Robbie’s plan was to use the grant funds for travel expenses and studio costs to “hunt” for vintage jewelry just waiting to be taken apart and reinvented.
SEMAC activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the MN State Arts Board thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
