August 28, 2017 by Fillmore County Journal

Fillmore County Journal, Jerry Ehlenfeldt obituary

Jerry N. Ehlenfeldt, 55, of rural Lewiston, Minn., died on Friday, August 25, 2017, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis.

Jerry was born on October 3, 1961, in Winona, Minn., to Vernon and Betty (Barber) Ehlenfeldt. He was raised in rural St. Charles, Minn., and at the age of 15 lived with his grandparents in Iowa for a couple of years. Jerry then moved to Winona, where he attended Winona Senior High School. On March 24, 1984, he was united in marriage with Judy Wenzel at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hart, Minn. Jerry worked as a plant manager at several Winona area manufacturing companies. He also worked for Interstate Battery in St. Charles for several years. Jerry took great pride in mowing his yard “and more.” He received many compliments on his upkeeping of the valley area.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; two children, Ryan (Stacey) Ehlenfeldt and Tanya (Darla) Ehlenfeldt, both of Winona; three grandchildren: Cody, Ahron, and Lilian who all affectionately referred to their grandpa as “MeePaw”; siblings: Jane (Dean) Biers, Wayne (Cheryl) Ehlenfeldt, Terri Salmon, Ken Ehlenfeldt, Steve (Jenny) Ehlenfeldt, Paul (Loida) Ehlenfeldt, Christina (Jay) Britton, Cheryl (Bennett) Knower, Ron (Jessica) Wnuk and Jan Wnuk; stepmother Doris Ehlenfeldt, stepfather Ronald Wnuk, two brothers-in-law, Ben and Robert (Jackie) Wenzel; a sister-in-law, Pat Wenzel; and by aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Wendy, mother and father-in-law, Alvin and LuAnn Wenzel; and three brothers-in-law: John, Norman and Willard Wenzel.

There will be a funeral service for Jerry at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hart, Minn., with the Reverend Harold Hintzman officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Hart. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford, Minn., and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
