Jerry L. Asher

January 4, 2018 by Fillmore County Journal

Fillmore County Journal - Jerry Asher Obituary

Jerry L. Asher of Chatfield passed away at his home on December 31, 2017.

Jerry Lee Asher was born in Chatfield on December 19, 1940, to Claude and Hazel (Meeker) Asher.  He graduated from Chatfield High School in 1958.  On October 12, 1963, he married the love of his life, Winn (don’t call her Winnifred) Kay Perley of Rochester.

Jerry was in the National Guard in the early ‘60s.  He worked as a salesman most of life, spending the last 22 years of his career at Metafile Information Systems, Inc. in Rochester.  He retired in 2005 to take up the hobby of woodworking and later became interested in cooking.  He loved spending quiet time reading, watching movies, and playing with his granddog.

He will be sorely missed by his children, Tami Asher of Chatfield and Troy Asher (Becky Schultz) of Wykoff, his four grandchildren: Cameron, Destiny, Rose, and Faith; his sister and brothers Eleanor (Ken) Irish of Chatfield, Lynn Asher of McIntosh, Steve (Darlene) Asher of Pine City, and Randy (Tami) Asher of Zimmerman; his sisters-in-law Helen (Bill) Morrison of Kasson and Nancy (Ed) Buskey of Port Aransas, Tex.; and his dear friend Henry “Hank” Ostby of Chatfield.

He was preceded in death by his wife Winn, and his parents, Hazel and Claude.

Graveside services will be held at the Chatfield Cemetery at a later date, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife.

Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield is assisting the family with arrangements.  To share a condolence with the family, please visit rileyfuneralhomes.com.
