Jerald Palmer Holland, 93, of Austin, Minn., passed away, Sunday, February 8, 2026, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.
Jerald was born on November 13, 1932, in Mabel, Minn., to James and Palma (Myhre) Holland. Jerald married Catherine “Kate” Morey at Wilmington Lutheran Church in rural Caledonia on June 11, 1955. He worked as a carpenter for several years before taking a job at with the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked until his retirement in 1989. Following his retirement, he took a job in maintenance at McDonalds and worked there for 25 years.
Jerald was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He and Kate enjoyed making crafts for the annual Scandinavian Days. He was also an active member of Sons of Norway.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Catherine “Kate” Holland, one infant child, and brothers Roger Holland, Gary Holland, David (Ann) Holland, and Dean Holland.
Jerald is survived by his sons Glen (Kay) Holland of Delano and Mark (Linda) Holland of Streamwood, Ill., daughter Jody (Terry) Diggins of Austin, grandchildren Joseph Diggins (Sarah Jensen), Sam Diggins, Matthew Holland and Sarah Holland; great-grandchildren Carter Diggins, Catherine Diggins and Claire Diggins; siblings Darlene Hansen, Beverly Kallis, Richard (Loretta) Holland and Patty (Robert) Tollefsrud; sisters-in-law Marcia Holland, Harriet Holland and Terry Holland; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Kris Ferkin officiating. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday, February 13, from 5-7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by Austin American Legion Post #91 and Olaf B. Damm Post #1216 V.F.W.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
