Jenell June Grabau, age 74, of Spring Valley, Minn., passed away, surrounded by her loving family on February 19, 2022, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
She was born June 16, 1947 in Wykoff, Minn., to Lawrence and Gladys (Stender) Eickhoff. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wykoff, Minn. Jenell attended St. Johns Lutheran School until 8th grade and graduated from Wykoff High School in 1965. On June 9, 1973, she was united in marriage to Ronald G. Grabau at St. Johns Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they resided in rural Wykoff. To this union two children were born, Kevin Lawrence and Angela Ann. Jenell was a life-long member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. She was active in the Ladies Aid at church and the local homemaker group. Jenell served many years as treasurer for Forestville Township. She worked many years as a bank teller at First State Bank of Wykoff and Security State Bank of Wykoff and Spring Valley. She remained at home while her children were in school, and enjoyed being their mom. Jenell enjoyed playing cards with friends, going for drives with her sweetheart, going fishing (but not fishing!), making cards, watching the birds and gardening. In recent years, she enjoyed watching the cattle from her chair in the living room.
Her most favorite thing to do was be with her family. She loved hearing about their days and learning about their lives. She was a devoted and loving wife, mom and grandma.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald Grabau of Spring Valley; daughter Angela Schultz (Dwain) of Blooming Prairie, Minn., and son Kevin Grabau (Mindy) of Preston, Minn.; grandson Calvin Reed Jeno, brothers David Eickhoff (Darlene) of Wykoff, Minn., Harlan Eickhoff of Stewartville, Minn., and Roger Eickhoff (Sandy) of Faribault, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Jenell was preceded in death by her parents, father- and mother-in-law Gerald and Amalia Grabau, sister-in-law Lois Friemann, and nieces Nicole and Holly.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, with Pastor Michael Harmon officiating. The service will be live streamed on the church website. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, as well as on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at St Johns Lutheran Church in Wykoff.
