Jeffrey W. Trende, age 70, of Preston, Minn., lost his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, surrounded by his family on February 10, 2024, at Traditions of Preston.
Jeff was born in Lanesboro, Minn., on August 23, 1953, to Donald and Mary (Young) Trende. He was a lifelong resident of Preston and graduated from Preston High School in 1971, where he was active in wrestling, baseball and football. After high school he attended Rochester Junior College, where he played football and baseball. On June 19, 1976, he married Linda Sikkink at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley. They resided in Preston for the entire 47 years that they were married.
After attending Junior College, Jeff worked for Great Plains Lumber in Preston. When the lumber yard closed, he went to work with Luverne Soland Carpentry until he retired in 2016. Jeff enjoyed all outdoor activities and shared many good times with his buddies fishing in Canada, hunting and golfing.
Jeff was very proud of his 25 years as a volunteer fireman. In his early years, he helped with Youth Gun Safety Training. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed many good times with all of them.
Jeff is survived by his wife Linda, brother Steve (Karen) Trende and their children Jenna (Andrew) Pederson, Tyler (Lindsay) Trende and Samantha Trende and sister Shari (Gary) May. He is further survived by sisters-in-law Helen and Butch Grabau and Donna and Tom Gauthier, nieces and nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Verl and Winnie Sikkink and sisters and brother-in-law Muriel and Calvin Ford and Marilyn Davis.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, with Pastor Kris Hertsgaard Kincaid officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston. Visitation will be held from 10-12 p.m. at the church prior to the service on Friday.
