Our dear Jane Wold, age 98, of Mabel, passed away April 28.
Jane was born in La Crosse, Wisc., December 1921 to Alfred and Jenny (Indahl) Erickson.
She married Hildus Wold in 1940 and moved to the farm at Mabel, Minn. Jane and Hildus had three children, Wayne, Barry and Susan. She was a partner to Hildus in all his endeavors and loved the farm and her strawberry business.
After their children left home, Jane became active serving on the County Health Board, Social Services Board and farm boards. She was a member of Citizens for the Arts in Minnesota, which was responsible for starting the arts organizations in many of our communities. Jane also lobbied for the arts in Minnesota and in 1982 was appointed by Governor Al Quie to the Minnesota State Arts Board.
She was instrumental in starting Ye Olde Opera (theatre and musicals) in Spring Grove, Minn.
She served at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove as chairman of the Organ committee, and was on the S.E. Auxiliary of Women.
She loved people and had a wonderful circle of friends, whether playing bridge or traveling together.
At the heart of Jane’s life was a love of her family and a devotion to her religious beliefs.
Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hildus (age 96), and her son Barry (age 70), both in 2013.
Jane is survived by her son Wayne (Janet) and daughter Susan (William Goodman), and daughter-in-law Mary. Her grandchildren Melissa, Lara (Abe) Mendez, Suzanne (Eric) Burkness; Eric (Stacy) Wold, Nicole (Josh) Ranzenberger, and Amanda (William) Dewey; great-grandchildren Madison, Piper, Peyton, Dash, Tucker, Maverick, Matthew, Olivia, Lily, Jacob, Austin, Roman, Ainsley, Reider, and Sophia.
She thanked the Lord everyday for giving her a beautiful husband and family, and a long full life.
We miss her and thank God for her life in Christ, who conquered death and is risen indeed! Allelujah!
A memorial celebration of life to be planned for a later date.
