James “Jim” Owen Jensson

James Jensson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

James “Jim” Owen Jensson, 72, of La Porte City, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his home. He was born June 25, 1952, in Preston, Minn, the son of Orville and J. Ione Iverson Jensson. Jim spent his childhood in rural Minnesota and the family moved to La Porte City when Jim was a teenager.  He was a 1971 graduate of La Porte City High School.

Jim married Kyle Ann Bader on July 8, 1972, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City.

After faithfully serving customers in and around the communities of La Porte City and Mt. Auburn for 43 years, Jim retired from LPC Connect in May 2014 as an outside plant technician.

He was a member of the American Lutheran Church and served on the La Porte City Council and Planning and Zoning Committee.  He was a past member of the La Porte City Jaycees and was a volunteer on the La Porte City Fire Department from 1975-1990.

Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball, particularly for the Pit Stop. He was an outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kyle of La Porte City; a son, David (Joan) Jensson of Holland; a daughter, Melana Jensson (Lauren Siebert) of Brooklyn; a brother, Glen (Julie) Jensson of Lanesboro, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter lost in infancy. 

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the American Lutheran Church, 801 Monroe St. in La Porte City, with inurnment in the West View Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, at the American Lutheran Church and also the hour before the service.

Memorials may be directed to the family, where a memorial fund will be established at a later date.
