James “Jim” Hagen, 82 of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Mabel, died June 19 in Tampa.
Jim was born July 17, 1941, in Spring Grove to Knute V. and Lillian (Haakenson) Hagen. He was baptized in Riceford, confirmed at the Mabel First Lutheran Church, and graduated from the Mabel High School in the Class of 1959.
On November 28, 1959, Jim married Mary Jane Hovey. They were later divorced. On August 11, 1990, he married Mary Sue Whisenet, and were later divorced. Jim had lived and worked in Mabel for Hagen Lumber for 19 years, JB Hunt and other trucking and security companies. He had lived in Fort Collins, Colo., and has lived in Florida for the last 13 years.
Jim is survived by his children Cindy (Brad) Williams of Decorah, Iowa, Nick Hagen of Loveland, Colo., and Kevin Hagen of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren Reid (Stacy) Williams and their daughters Avery and Quinn, Slade (Alysha) Williams, and Anthony Zita Hagen; his siblings Lorraine (Ray) Wickett, George (Joanne) Hagen, Barbara (Loren) McCabe, and Karl (Barbara) Hagen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service will be held at a later date. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with local arrangements.
