The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the elementary building room #162. The meeting was called to order by School Board Chair Mike Peterson at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. The school board members present were Derek Adamson, Julie Augedahl, Chad Harms, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, and Spencer Yohe and student school board representatives Samantha Peters and Addison Fruechte. Also present were Craig Ihrke, Nathan Boler, John Wahlstrom, Gretchen Juan, Barb Meyer, Karen Schiltz, Kaitlin Longhauser, and Rose Korabek.
Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Leigh King to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. The resolution accepting donations was moved by Spencer Yohe, seconded by Julie Augedahl. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Whereupon, said Resolution was declared duly adopted. Moved by Mike Peterson, seconded by Derek Adamson to approve the following consent agenda items: approval of April 21, 2025, Regular School Board Minutes; approve the electronic transfers and bills due and payable amounting to $431,069.57 along with electronic transfers from MSDLAF to Merchants Bank in the amount of $1,008,000.00; authorize the bidding of bread, dairy and petroleum products for the 2025-2026 school year; accept the resignation of Kayline Schechinger as a special education paraprofessional effective April 17, 2025; accept the resignation of Mitch Mullins as an assistant football coach effective at the end of the 2024-2025 school year with thanks for his thirty-four years of service to our school district in this position; ratify the hiring of Paige Carmack as a full-time CAPS Care Aide beginning May 12, 2025, at I/2 years at $15.41 per hour; ratify the hiring of Maria Inglefield as a full-time MSHS special education teacher beginning the 2025-2026 school year at MA/8 at $66,447.00 based on the 2023-2025 teacher master agreement; and approval of the Cooperative Agreement for Athletics between Houston Public School District and Caledonia Area Public School District for the 2025-2027 school years for boys and girls soccer, wrestling and gymnastics. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Member Spencer Yohe introduced the 2025-2026 Resolution for Membership in the Minnesota State High School League and moved its adoption. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Director Julie Augedahl, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following board members voted in favor thereof: Derek Adamson, Julie Augedahl, Chad Harms, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, and Spencer Yohe.
