The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299, Caledonia, Minnesota, met in a regular school board meeting in the elementary building room #162. The meeting was called to order by School Board Chair Mike Peterson at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. The school board members present were Derek Adamson, Julie Augedahl, Chad Harms, Leigh King, Melissa Marschall, Mike Peterson, and Spencer Yohe. Also present were Craig Ihrke, Nathan Boler, John Wahlstrom, Gretchen Juan, Barb Meyer, Karen Schiltz, Kim Nielson, and Kaitlin Longhauser.
Moved by Derek Adamson, seconded by Melissa Marschall to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried by a unanimous vote. Moved by Spencer Yohe, seconded by Derek Adamson to approve the following consent agenda items: approval of July 21, 2025, regular school board minutes; approve the electronic transfers and bills due and payable amounting to $587,815.29 along with electronic transfers from MSDLAF to Merchants Bank in the amount of $625,000.00; ratify the 2025-2027 Teacher Master Agreement between Caledonia Chapter of the River Valley Education Association and the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 299 as presented; approval of a junior high girls’ soccer coaching position for the 2025-2026 school year due to increased numbers in the girls’ soccer program; approve the Memorandum of Understanding Between ISD #299 and the Exclusive Representative of Teachers to waive the statutory requirement outlined in Minnesota Statute 122A.60, Subdivision1a which mandates the reservation of two percent of general education revenue for staff development; accept the resignation of Amy Stracener as a full-time special education para effective August 8, 2025, with thanks for her one year of service to our school district; ratify the hiring of Kailee Olerud as a full-time elementary student services teacher beginning the 2025-2026 school year at BA/1 at $47,739.00 based on the 2023-2025 teacher master agreement; ratify the hiring of Barbara Wing as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/7 years at $17.76 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Jeanine Johnson as a full-time Secretary II at IV/11 years at $20.20 per hour beginning August 11, 2025; ratify the hiring of Robin Kuennen as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/4 years at $17.00 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Sandra Boenigk as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/10 years at $18.56 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Suzanne Wolff as a full-time ADSIS/special educational paraprofessional at II/4 years at $17.00 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Teyanna Ross as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/2 years at $16.48 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Autumn Beach as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/7 years at $17.76 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Katie Tornstrom as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/5 years at $17.24 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Katie Schleich as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/10 years at $18.56 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Dionne Schoh as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/13 years at $19.45 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Jadi Heaney as a full-time special educational paraprofessional at II/8 years at $18.03 per hour beginning the 2025-2026 school year; ratify the hiring of Hayden Arians as a full-time CAPS Care teacher at III/4 years at $17.75 per hour beginning August 25, 2025; and ratify the hiring of Shawn Bauer as the junior high girls’ soccer coach at I/1 year.
