Ilene V. Anderson, 92, of Harmony, Minn., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at the Gundersen Health Care Center in Harmony, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Greenfield Lutheran church followed by burial in Greenfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Ilene Vercile (Soland) Anderson, 92, daughter of Guy T. and Nora (Sanden) Soland, was born October 19, 1926, in Amherst Township, Fillmore County. Ilene was baptized at Henrytown Lutheran and confirmed at Greenfield Lutheran in Harmony. She attended grade school in Amherst and graduated from Harmony High School in 1944. She attended Normal teacher training in Preston following graduation and taught in Hutton Valley. She met Milo J. Anderson at his brother’s restaurant, where she waitressed. They were married May 14, 1949, at Greenfield Lutheran Parsonage in Harmony.
Ilene worked for HECO, waitressed at several restaurants and cleaned houses, but she always said her best job ever was doing daycare for many families in Harmony. She created so many special memories and friends through her daycare that lasted a lifetime. She spoke highly of each and every one.
Ilene is survived by one daughter, Kathryn (Bruce) Fishbaugher of Preston; three grandchildren: John (Kristina) Fishbaugher, David (Jessica) Fishbaugher, Allyson (Steve) Bahl; seven great-grandchildren: Alex (Audrey) Fishbaugher, Clay (Julia) Fishbaugher, Emilee Fishbaugher, Jake Fishbaugher, Makaura Fishbaugher, Sophia Fishbaugher, Samuel Bahl; step-grandchildren: Briana Bahl, Ross (Carrie) Bahl and family, Riley (Liz) Bahl and August; a great-great-granddaughter, Lia Kathryn Fishbaugher; and two sisters-in-law: Pat Soland and Mary Ward along with many nieces and nephews.
Ilene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a great-grandson, Maxwell Fishbaugher; three sisters: Audrey Teslow, Esther Hanlon, Nora (Darleen) Johnson and three brothers: LuVerne, Gerald and Guy “Junior” Soland.
