Spring Grove’s girls beat L/P and Southland to guarantee a share of the SEC title. The Lions (14-1, 20-5) lead Houston (12-2, 15-9). The teams meet in a season finale. Fillmore Central’s girls (6-6, 14-9) went 2-0 on the week including upsetting a short-handed Caledonia (11-2, 15-7) squad. Josie Foster had 25 in defeat. Kammry Broadwater scored 22 in FC’s other win over St. Charles. Foster had 37 (seven threes) in a Warrior win over Jackson County Central. Caledonia (11-2, 16-7) and Cotter (11-2, 19-5) share the TRC-East lead. Evy Goldmith scored 22 points but Chatfield fell to PEM 59-56. L-O’s Benita Nolt recorded her 1,000th career rebound in a loss to W-K. Tyler Larson scored 23 points (seven threes) and Cayden Tollefsrud 20 as M-C beat Schaeffer by hitting 16 of 28 threes (57%)! It was the Cougars (9-8, 11-11) fifth win in six tries. Luke Hellickson scored 20 points as FC beat Rochester STEM. LARP wrestling beat PEM 37-33 to wrap up a good regular season (7-2, 19-7). The Screamin’ Eagles are 1A’s four-seed, will host 5-seed Goodhue (17-7). GMLOS (5-4, 13-10) is the 6-seed, will wrestle at 3-seed D-E (16-4). Caledonia/Houston (3-4, 15-20) is 1AA’s 7-seed, will take on 10-seed Waseca (0-14). Warrior senior Owen Denstad set the program all-time win record at 187. On February 2 versus FC, Rushford-Peterson senior Ellie Ekern scored her 1,000th career-point (which was not mentioned in last week’s sports).
