Caledonia girls’ basketball (2-0, 2-0) started the year with notable wins over La Crescent/Hokah 78-64 and Cotter 62-24, avenging a pair of season sweeps last year. Josie Foster scored 22 points versus the Lancers. Anika Reiland (10 pts, 13 rebs, 12 asts, 9 stls) nearly had a quadruple-double as Kingsland beat UCA 57-42. Chatfield’s girls beat L-A 64-47 to stay perfect (1-0, 3-0). GM’s girls beat L/P 82-8, holding the Athletics to two second half points. Kaci Ruen had a double-double (20 pts, 12 rebs) and Jensyn Storhoff 20 points, as Lanesboro beat SG 62-35. Kaylee Ruberg had 21 points, but R-P fell 69-60 to Cotter. The Trojans then notched a key 1A win over FC 53-43. Cayden Tollefsrud scored 26 points as M-C best G-E 65-51. Camden Hungerholt hit five threes and scored 31 points, but L-O fell to Alden-Conger 81-56. Chatfield’s Javier Berg took first place at 113-pounds at the Lakeville-North tournament. Caledonia/Houston wrestling went 3-0 at the St. Charles “Icebreaker” Duals. Aiden Burns (106), Cory Scanlan (152), and Simon Seymour (160) wrestled out three wins while Braxton Lange (126), Owen Denstad (138), Eric Mauss (182) and Ayden Goetzinger (220) went 3-0 with a forfeit. GMLOS went 2-1 at the Woodbury Duals, as Aiden Quintana (126), Timmy Hogfeldt (132), and Cohen Wiste all wrestled out three wins.
