Fillmore Central defensive lineman Gunner Benson flies like a Falcon after recovering a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown in #2 FC’s 49-20 1A semifinal win over Randolph. Will Parker forced the fumble. Teammates Henry Liew (#34), Christian Ladd (#56), Atlee Hershberger (#55), and Kyle Daniels (#9) are also pictured. FC (10-0) will play Faribault B.A. for the section title.

Corbin Ludemann ran for 126 yards and 2 TDs while returning a kick-off 79 yards for a score as GM football beat L/P 36-22 in a 9-Man quarterfinal.  Cayden Tollefsrud had 192 total yards and scored four TDs three different ways (including a 97-yard interception return), Tyler Larson added 162 yards rushing and three total TDs, as M-C beat L-O 52-32 in a 9-man quarterfinal.  Camden Hungerholt ran for 265 yards and 3 TDs in defeat.  Grady Hengel threw two and ran for another TD, Sampson Wilkemeyer had 123 yards receiving and two TDs, as R-P beat Hayfield 41-6 in a 1A quarterfinal.  GM, M-C, and R-P then fell in the semis.  Round of 16 play-off volleyball went to seeding with 2-seed M-C, 3-seed Chatfield, 4-seed SG, 4-seed Caledonia, 5-seed FC, and 8-seed R-P all sweeping matches to make Rochester.  A trio of Cougars (Kinley Soiney, Kailey Ingvalson, Saijal Slafter) all had 10-plus kills, and Sahara Morken 39 assists, as #5 M-C beat G-E 3-0.  Harper Goldsmith had 7 aces as Chatfield beat St. Charles.  Emme Kittleson was 26 of 26 serving with 6 aces as Caledonia beat Lourdes.  Addyson McHugh had 20 kills as #9 SG beat Houston.   Aubrey Daniels had 37 assists as FC beat W-K.  Kaylee Ruberg had 16 kills and 19 digs as R-P beat Randolph.  Sydney Cotten had 21 digs, but GM fell to Alden-Conger.  Lanesboro fell 3-0 to Hayfield, but Burro senior Kaci Ruen accrued her 1,000th career kill.  Jordan Runde served 8 aces as L-O beat L/P 3-0 in a play-in match.
