Sub-section track and field meets were held. LFCMC’s girls and RPH’s boys won the Sub-1 meet. LFCMC’s Brielle Ruen had two firsts (400, 4×400) and a second (100) to lead the Burros. Tyler Rislov (1,600, 3,200) and Aaron Prinsen (300-hurdles, Pole Vault) had two firsts to lead the Tro-Canes. Zayda Priebe (Shot Put, Discus) had two firsts to lead Chatfield. The Gopher boys 4×100 and 4×200 teams (Isaac Erding, Eli Hopp, Thad Evans, Sam Backer) each took first. Backer also won the 100. GMLOKS’ teams won the Sub-2 meet. Anika Reiland had three firsts (100, 200, 4×200) and qualified in four events. Lexy Foster (Shot Put, Discus) had two firsts. James Howard had three firsts (100, 200, 400) and qualified in four events. Riley Paul (Shot Put, Discus) and Garrison Hubka (1,600, 3,200) had two firsts. Reiland (100, 200), B-Ruen (100, 400), Foster (Shot, Discus), Priebe (Shot, Discus), Backer (100), Howard (100, 200, 400), Rislov (1,600, 3,200), Prinsen (Pole Vault), Paul (Shot Put, Discus), Chatfield’s two boys’ short relays, the GMLOKS girls 4×200, and the LFCMC girls 4×400 are all seeded top three for the 1A Meet. Also seed top three are LFCMC’s Lynsey Ruen (100-H, 300-H), Lillyan Kiehne (3,200), Addie Miner (P-Vault),
Madison Simon (P-Vault), Jayce Kiehne (800), and Seth Semmen (Discus), GMLOKS’ Christian Luthe (Shot, Discus), Breeley Galle (300-H) and Rebecca Hoffman (Shot), Chatfield’s Logan Thompson (1,600), RPH’s Dalton Hoel (Long Jump), Caledonia/SG’s Chris Pieper (High Jump), the LFCMC girls 4×800, LFCMC’s two boys long relays, and Cal/SG’s boys 4×200. GMLOKS girls track and field won the five-team Stewartville Invite. Drew O’Connor hit his fifth home run as top-seeded #5 Chatfield baseball beat Cotter 10-1 in a 1AA-East quarter. Chatfield then fell to PEM in the semis by a 9-5 final. The Gophers led 5-2 following a Carter Daniels solo home run, but the Bulldogs scored seven unanswered runs. Thane Meiners pitched a complete game three-hit shut-out as Caledonia beat L-A 4-0 in the quarters. The Warriors then fell to La Crescent/Hokah 10-2 in a semi. Chatfield (18-2) and Caledonia (13-9) play in a loser-out game. Cooper Ferrie allowed just one hit in 5 2/3 innings of work as FC/L baseball won its Round of 16 game, beating AC/G-E 7-2. Caleb Griffin struck out 10 in seven innings of work, but Spring Grove fell 2-0 to W-K in the 1A Round of 16. The Lions finish at 10-4, 11-8. GMLOK softball lost a 1AA-West quarterfinal to D-E 5-1. They finish 15-4. Lauren Mensink went 4-for-4 but FC/L softball fell to Rushford-Peterson 10-2 in a 1A-East quarter. R-P went 2-2 in the playoffs, also beating Mabel-Canton, losing to Southland twice (19-12 and 10-7), the later in the 1A-East runner-up game. Cassandra Boyum was 4-for-4 in the first game versus the Rebels. It is R-P’s first two-win playoff run of the Journal Sports era. Cougar Gwen Tollefsrud hit a home run in the R-P/M-C game. Clay Schwichtenberg shot a 38 as Lanesboro golf beat Houston 169-227 in the team’s season finale.
