April 4, 2022 by Fillmore County Journal

Herman "Sonny" Hanson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Herman “Sonny” Hanson Jr., 79, of LeRoy, Minn., died on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at his home in rural LeRoy.

Sonny was born June 1, 1942, in Lanesboro, Minn., to Herman Sr. and Mary (McRae) Hanson. He graduated from Wykoff High School in Wykoff, Minn. After graduation he took over his dad’s milk route. When he sold it, Sonny went to work for Kapper’s Construction in Spring Valley, Minn. He also worked for Mathy Construction, Quarve Anderson, and Griffin Construction in Chatfield. After retirement he worked for various farmers as well as hauling livestock. Sonny married Sharon Horan on June 3, 1961. They were later divorced. Sonny had a love for horses, farming, and went to horse pulling contests. He also had a love for Farmall tractors.

Sonny is survived by his three sons: Terry (Cindy) of Fountain, Minn., Todd of LeRoy, and Pat (Kathy) of Chatfield, Minn., and one daughter, Brenda (Jason) Hanson of Rochester, Minn. He is also survived by six grandkids: Jim (Andrea), John (Tiffany), Julie (Dallas), Marissa (Andrew), Christopher, and Hunter; seven great-grandkids Kylie, Austin, Abby, Aaron, Aiden, Bethany, and Presley; and two sisters, Mary and Marion. His many nieces and nephews meant the world to him. He loved visiting and making deals with the Amish. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Bob, Cecil and Lester; and four sisters: Alice, Agnes, Lois and Marge.

A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minn.
