Helen Anderson

Fillmore County Journal - Helen Anderson Obituary

Helen Anderson, 98, of Peterson, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

Helen was born on August 20, 1919, to Hjelmer and Julia Hanson and lived in Peterson, Minn. Helen went to school at the Norby Valley Country School and attended church at Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson. Helen was married to Clarence Anderson and had two children, Dennis and Gerald.

Helen enjoyed going to church, her Bible study group and the church quilting group. Helen cleaned homes earlier in her life and later worked at Rush Products. Helen spent a lot of time at home and enjoyed listening to her country music on the kitchen radio while drinking her cup of coffee with a bar or cookie. Helen lived at the same home in Peterson for over 60 years and took pride in her home always being clean and tidy and she always had coffee and sweets around if people were to come visit. Her health later brought her to Good Shepherd Home, where she passed away at age 98.

Helen was a kind and mild mannered woman that people naturally gravitated towards. This resulted in family and many friends that cared deeply for her and she was extremely close to. Outside of her family, some of the friends that Helen spent the most time with included Sandy Thompson and Richard and Portia Lee of Peterson.

Helen is survived by her son Gerald “Jerry” (Diane) Anderson; daughter-in-law Marilyn Erickson Anderson; grandchildren Julie (Rick) Galewski, Brian (Susan) Anderson, Sue (Jeff) Moechnig, and Tanya (Chad) Carlson; and great-grandchildren Ella, Andi, Kendra and Tyler.  She is preceded in death by her son Dennis and her husband Clarence.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service – Rushford, with the Reverend Sarah Walker Brown officiating.  Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Helen will be laid to rest at East Grace Cemetery.
