Harriet M. Herrick (née Bondeson) passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2023. She was 85.
Born June 10, 1938, in Marshall, Minn., to Peter and Minnie Bondeson, she lived in Wabasha and then Chatfield, Minn. Her father was the Chatfield baker in the 1940s and ‘50s. She married Donald Herrick on June 15, 1957.
She taught elementary art education until 1974, then pursued her dream to become a full-time artist–first as a professional potter, then later creating cut paper art and fused glass.
In 2001, at the request of the state of N.C., where she lived, she created a cut paper Christmas ornament of the Biltmore Mansion. It hung on the White House Christmas tree along with ornaments from the other 49 states. After a luncheon at the White House and meeting Laura Bush, she and her ornament were featured in an HGTV holiday special, “Christmas at the White House.”
She moved to Milwaukee in 2013 to be near her family. She is survived by her husband, sister, two children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. See a full obituary at www.feerickfuneralhome.com.
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Feerick Funeral Home, 2025 E Capitol Dr, Shorewood, Wis. 53211. Visitation 10 a.m., service 11 a.m.
