Harold Schauls obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Harold J. Schauls passed away on September 8, 2025, at Community Memorial Hospital following a cancer diagnosis in June.

Harold was born on July 29, 1949, in La Crosse, Wis., to John A. Schauls and Laura (Feldmeier Welsh) Schauls. Harold grew up on the family farm near Hokah and graduated from La Crescent High School in 1967.  In 1968, he was drafted into the U.S. Army.  He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, Harold graduated from the accounting program at Winona Technical College (now Southeast Tech) and began his lifelong fascination with numbers.

Harold is survived by his sisters Alice (Ray) Leitzen, Roseann (Dave) Shaw, Agnes Manhart, Mary Wunnecka, Annette (LaVern) Twite and Elayne Erdman; a sister-in-law, Arlene Welsh; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Edward Welsh, Richard Welsh, Walter Welsh and John J. Schauls. 

In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.  His body will be cremated and buried at the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Preston.
