Harold Dean Schumacher, 73, of Preston, Minn., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 28, 2024, to be reunited with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Dean was born on February 22, 1951, to Harold and Carol (Meyer) Schumacher and was raised on the family farm outside Wykoff. He graduated from Wykoff High School in 1969 and pursued further education at Rochester Community College, focusing on electronics. Following college, he embarked on a career as an electrician before transitioning to become an Electrical Inspector for the State of Minnesota, where he served for 31 years.
On November 8, 1980, Dean married Cheryl Tofte, and together they raised three children: Clint, Kevin and Kristin. Dean embraced a rich and fulfilling life, enjoying hunting and fishing excursions with his children, enthusiastically supporting his grandsons at their sporting events, and fulfilling his dream of becoming a pilot in 1999. He dedicated himself to serving his church and community through various committees and boards. Dean also cherished working on projects around the family farm, finding immense joy that only matched his delight in spending time with his five grandsons.
Dean was a devoted member of Christ Lutheran Church in Preston and exemplified a Christian life through his actions and kindness.
Dean is survived by his wife Cheryl, children Clint (Angela) Schumacher, Kevin Schumacher and Kristin (Tom) Wittrock; and five grandsons: Dean and Aiden Schumacher, and Reid, Parker, and Owen Wittrock.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Carol Schumacher, and in-laws Willis and Harriet Tofte.
Memorial services for Dean will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Christ Lutheran in Preston, with Pastor Kris Hertsgaard Kincaid officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Christ Lutheran on Monday, July 8 and will continue from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday morning before the service.
In honor of Dean, memorials can be directed to the Christ Lutheran Church memorial fund in support of ministries at Good Earth Village.
