Harlan William Baker, 86, of Rushford, previously of Stewartville, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, Minn.
Harlan was born June 6, 1931, in Rochester, Minn., to William and Rose (Schroder) Baker. He grew up on the family farm between Stewartville and Chatfield, learning the trade. After graduating from Chatfield High School in 1949 he continued to farm. Harlan was very generous to anyone in need. He enjoyed lawn mower repair, woodworking, riding his ATV and attending tractor shows. He was an Allis-Chalmers man through and through. He could tell you anything about any part of those tractors. He also enjoyed discussing farming with his nephews and talking politics with anyone that would listen.
He is survived by his sisters Eileen Tucker and Marjorie Huper, nephews Richard Tucker of Lewiston, David (Marlene) Huper of Alden, Minn., Mark Huper of Chatfield, James (Terri) Huper of Alden, Minn., Jon (Jackie) Huper of Wells, Minn.; nieces Lori (Mike) Reiland of Dover, Minn., and Janet (Dennis) Nelson of Eyota, Minn.; 18 great-nieces and nephews, 14 great-great-nieces and nephews, and special friends Sue and Crystal Grant.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Muriel, and brothers-in-law Everett Tucker and Ellsworth Huper.
A funeral service will be held 7 p.m., Monday, April 16 at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service, Rushford, with visitation beginning at 5 p.m. Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service, Rushford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
