A lifelong resident of Spring Grove, Minn., Gloria Ruth Sagdalen, age 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 29, 2024.
Gloria was born on January 2, 1944, in Spring Grove to Leslie and Crystal (Strinmoen) Eddy.
She attended Spring Grove Public School and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Gloria was kind and very generous and always thought of everyone else before herself. Family meant everything to Gloria, and she dedicated her life to them.
She was adored by her husband Terry Sagdalen, her children, grandchildren and family. Gloria liked working with the public in the many different jobs that she held. However, her favorite job of all was being a meticulous bookkeeper for the family business, Sagdalen Excavating, and gave great attention to detail and was extremely organized.
In her free time, she enjoyed taking pictures, organizing photos and had over one hundred photo albums and scrapbooks. Gloria was also a wiz at euchre and word puzzles.
In July of every year, the family gets together for “Ruthie” Days. It started as a family get together, in her name, but as the years go forward it will take on a whole new meaning as one in remembrance of her and in celebration of her life and family.
Survivors include her husband Terry Sagdalen, sons, Troy Sagdalen of Fridley, Minn., Daniel Skadsem of Spring Grove, daughter Darla (JC) Nerstad of Spring Grove, brothers Gary (Judy) Eddy of La Crescent, Minn., and Donill (Jodie) Kenney of Lake Worth, Fla., sister Katherine Eddy of La Crosse, Wis., son-in law Dale Opsahl of Caledonia, Minn., and many special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Crystal Eddy, sister Carol Eddy, husband Terry Skadsem, son Derek Skadsem, and daughter Doreen Opsahl.
