Give to the Max Day 2017

January 29, 2018 by Fillmore County Journal

Give to the Max Day has become a Minnesota tradition since 2009, and F & M Community Bank (F & M) has participated in it in various ways to support local nonprofit organizations.

This year, according to CEO Dan Christianson, F & M supported four local organizations with some matching funds.  Those organizations were the Preston Area Community Foundation, the Chatfield Center for the Arts, the Chosen Valley Community Foundation, and the Commonweal Theatre in Lanesboro.

The Preston Area Community Foundation (PACF) continues to be one of the local nonprofits that F & M supports substantially.  With F & M’s matching dollars of $6,259, the PACF was able to collect a total of $19,857 — a substantial amount in one day!  F & M has provided a similar match for the PACF on Give to the Max Day for several years now.

The other organizations were new recipients this year for matching dollars from F & M.  In the community of Chatfield, F & M pledged $2,500 to the Chosen Valley Community Foundation (CVCF) and $1,500 to the Chatfield Center for the Arts (CCA).  The CVCF raised a total of just under $6,300 and the CCA raised $12,620 — great numbers for a first year effort!

Also achieving some great first year numbers was the Commonweal Theatre.  They raised $14,899, which includes a matching donation of $2,500 from F & M.

In total, F & M Community Bank provided $12,759 in matching funds on Give to the Max Day for local nonprofits that have such a positive impact on the Southeast Minnesota region.

“We’re extremely proud of how we continue to support organizations such as these,” said Christianson.  “By providing these matching funds, we encourage others to support organizations which make our region a better place to live and work.”

F & M Community Bank began operating in 1911.  Its home office is in Preston, Minn., and it has branch offices in Chatfield, Minn., since October of 2000, and in Rochester, Minn., since October of 2015.  It is a wholly owned subsidiary of F & M Financial Services, Inc., which also owns and operates F & M Insurance Services, which is located in Preston.
