Grand Meadow’s Gracie Foster has hustled back on defense to get the blocked shot on Houston’s Avery Kingsley. But the latter hit two free throws with 0:06 to ice the game, a 51-47 Hurricane victory (after GM came back from down a 35-20 at halftime).

In a battle of solid SEC teams, fantastic first half shooting propelled Houston (9-2, 12-8) over Grand Meadow (7-3, 13-7). The Hurricanes hit 14 of 22 shots (64%) including 7 of 11 from deep (64%) in building a 35-20 halftime edge! GM then slowly came back with better defensive intensity while the ‘Canes cooled considerably. Lauren Queensland scored 13 of GM’s final 16 points including hitting two big threes, the last to make it 51-49 (0:58). After Houston missed the front end of a one-and-one (0:18.7), the Larks were called for traveling (0:06). Avery Kingsley then sank two free throws (0:05) to ice the game. The final was 53-49. After the 7 of 11 from deep first half, Houston was 1 of 8 in the second half. GM was 5 of 34 from deep for the game (15%). Kingsley (17 pts, 4 asts) led the ‘Canes. Emily Botcher (10 pts, 8 rebs), Jorja Meyer (10 pts, 4-6 FGs), and Aubry Boldt (9 pts) helped. Meyer had two scores late to keep GM at bay. Queensland (28 pts, 13 rebs) was huge for GM. Lexy Foster (13 pts, 11 rebs) helped. Houston (10-2, 13-8) sweeps season series, having won the first game 51-48.
