Georgena Stole, age 95 of Ostrander, Minn died Saturday June 13, 2020 at Wildwood Grove in Le Roy, Minn.
Georgena Ruth Luing was born on April 9, 1925, in Collins, Iowa to Lyle and Lota (Link) Luing. She attended and graduated from Collins High School and was united in marriage to Ray Warren Deo on January 27, 1945.They were later divorced. Georgena was united in marriage to Sherman Stole on July 3, 1951, in Albert Lea, Minn., and they were married for almost 69 years before Sherman’s passing on May 14 of this year. When Georgena was younger, she workd as a telephone operator before going to work as a seamstress for Rueben H. Donnely. Following her marriage to Sherman, she was a homemaker and farmed alongside Sherman for many years. Over the years she continued to be an avid sewer and absolutely loved quilting. Together Georgena and Sherman enjoyed vacationing and traveling with local groups and spending winters in Florida for many years.
Georgena is survived by two grandchildren: Stephanie (Dan) Hellerud and Matt (Linda) Deo, both of Ostrander, Minn.; four great-grandchildren: Savannah, Brianna, Brian, and Mikayla; daughter-in-law Chris Deo of Spring Valley, Minn.; brother-in-law Clarence Mitchell of Nevada, Iowa; and sister-in-law Solvay (Loren) Twedt of Story City, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sherman on May 14, 2020, her son Ray, two brothers, Lyle “Bill” Luing and Norman Luing, and three sisters: Betty Post, Geri Littrel and Virginia Mitchell.
Public visitation with COVID-19 guidelines will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley. Graveside services will follow at approximately 3:15 p.m. at the Bloomfield Cemetery Rural Ostrander.
