On Thursday, May 28, 2020 Gary Wayne Hanson (Amos), loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 58 years old.
Amos was born on July 21st, 1961 in Harmony, Minn., to Bob and Janice (Finley) Hanson. Gary grew up in Chatfield, Minn., with his eight siblings on the family farm. He graduated from Chatfield High School in 1979. In his younger years he loved trail riding and spending time with his cousins. He later worked as a skilled semi driver for a variety of businesses; however, his main passion was always sitting on a sled driving one of his teams of horses. He was a member of the Minnesota Horse Pullers Association, Wisconsin Horse Pullers Association, and Northeast Draft Horse Pulling Association. He will be remembered for his storytelling, loving heart, and his kind compassionate spirit.
He raised three sons, Amos Hanson with Kay Cronk (married February, 9, 1980) and Sawyer Hanson and Shane Stevens with Lisa Stevens (married on October 10th 1997). While both marriages ended in divorce, these three boys brought much joy to his life.
In 2015 he took on a new adventure and moved to New Hamshire to marry his fellow horse lover, Kerri Brooks. While in New Hamshire he loved to go to the ocean, take in the sea life, and attending the Fryeburg Fair in Maine. One grand experience he participated in was pulling three abreast. However, he often complained of the number of rocks.
He will be missed by his wife Kerri of Boscawen, N.H.; children Amos Hanson of Greenleafton, Minn., Shane Stevens of Spring Valley, Minn., and Sawyer Hanson of Spring Valley, Minn.; and grandchildren Tiana Hanson, Hailey Hanson, Mason Hanson.
Amos is also survived by his mother Janice Hanson; siblings Judy (Sandy) Miller, June (Arnie) Danielson, Joyce (Steve) Irish, Twyla (Greg) Krueger, Bobby (Mary) Hanson, William (Lisa) Hanson, Tracy (Brenda) Hanson, Sara Kujath; many Hanson nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law Thomas Brooks and Dan (Mark) Baileybrooks; niece Raiyne Baileybrooks and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Bob Hanson, father-in-law Leo Brooks, mother-in-law Jill Brooks, brother in-laws, Cory Olson and Todd Kujath, nephew Jerry Shaw, and niece Daysha Hanson.
A celebration service of Amos’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 14th, 2020, at Tracy and Brenda Hanson’s Farm, 30650 County Rd 5, Chatfield, Minn. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the same location.
