Chatfield did not let off the gas pedal on a dominant season thus far in trouncing their fifth opponent in five tries. The #3 in Class AA Gophers out-scored Zumbrota-Mazeppa 21-0 in the first quarter and did not allow Z-M to score until it was 40-0. Jeff Johnson’s crew posted another convincing win, 40-7. Kail Schott again did yeoman’s work, banging his way to his fifth 100-yard effort of the season (16-139, 2 TDs rushing). The senor also returned a fumble for a TD in Chatfield’s 21-0 first quarter. Chatfield spread the wealthy offensively. Carson Rowland ran for and threw a TD (4-5, 80 yards, TD, INT passing, 2-yard TD run). Parker Delaney hit Ben Carrier on a 54-yard TD strike to open the scoring. Carrier (3-93, TD receiving) and Devin Reinhardt (2-64, TD receiving) caught the scoring passes. Chase Johnston (7-50 rushing) also added good rushing work, as the Gophers were balanced with 207 yards rushing and 194 passing (401 total yards). The Gopher defense was again limiting, holding Z-M to 89 yards rushing and 71 receiving (160 total yards). Chatfield (3-0, 5-0) now heads to the meat of their schedule down the stretch including a huge week six showdown at co-White leading #2 in AA Caledonia (4-0, 5-0).
