Firearms involved assault

Fillmore County Journal- PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

On Thursday April 29, 2021 at approximately 2:56 p.m., the Houston County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a 911 call from a female reporting that her life had been threatened by a male subject with a firearm. The female was able to get away from the situation and reported to law enforcement when she got to safety.

Sheriff’s deputies and Caledonia Police Officers responded to the location of the alleged incident in rural Caledonia. Initial contact with the male suspect was unsuccessful. Officers established a perimeter around the residence.

Winona County Emergency Response Team was requested for assistance. After multiple attempts to make contact with the male suspect, entry onto the property was made with the Winona County Emergency Response vehicle.

At approximately 8 p.m., the suspect, James Mitchell Forrester, (36 yoa) was safely taken into custody by law enforcement.

Forester is currently being held on felony assault charges.

William Ray Johnson III, (34 yoa) was also taken into custody on misdemeanor charges relating to interference with the scene.

Assisting with this incident was Caledonia Police Department, Caledonia Ambulance, Winona County Emergency Response Team and the Houston County Sheriff’s Posse.
