Finstad Statement on Reckless Democrat Government Shutdown

October 6, 2025 by Fillmore County Journal 3 Comments

Brad Finstad

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) released the following statement after Senate Democrats voted to shut down the federal government, rejecting the House-passed, clean Continuing Resolution (CR) that would fund the government through November 21st:

“In Congress, our job is to govern and that’s exactly what Democrats are refusing to do. House Republicans passed a straightforward, bipartisan CR to keep the government functioning. Democrats, however, are more focused on their own political gamesmanship and spending by the trillions than doing right by the American people.

“This shutdown was entirely avoidable and will cause unnecessary uncertainty for the many seniors, veterans, military families, small business owners, and rural communities that rely on the continuity of government services – it’s exactly why people are frustrated with Washington. The American people deserve stability, and I urge my Democratic colleagues to put aside their personal dislike for the President, stop the political theater, and end this shutdown.”

Sincerely,

Brad Finstad

Member of Congress

Mr. Finstad has embraced the Trumpian “post-truth” era. He and his fellow Republicans in Congress have refused to rein in an out of control Executive Branch that is attempting criminalise all opposition. The shutdown is the result of Republican intransigence and craven fear of ever opposing King Donald.

You can lecture us all you want to, collaborator – but after you vote to release the files.

Utter gibberish from Finstad. Republicans control the House and Senate and are solely responsible for the shut down. Put on your big boy pants, Brad.
