On Thursday, March 18, 2021, Midwest Free Community Papers, conducted their annual awards ceremony.
The Midwest Free Community Papers organization consists of a free distribution newspapers and shoppers spanning 11 states in the Midwest.
The awards categories for the annual conference are primarily focused on news, advertising, and online presence.
From 2018 to 2020, the Fillmore County Journal won 62 awards at the annual MFCP conference held in March each year.
In 2021, with the conference held in a virtual format, the team at the Fillmore County Journal received 24 awards in the following categories.
•Best Grocery Ad – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
•Best Professional Services Ad – 3rd place
•Special sections – Five awards (1st Place, [2] 2nd place, 3rd place, Honorable Mention)
•Magazines – 3rd place for Visit Bluff Country Magazine
•Best Front Page – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
•Best Original News Story – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place along with Honorable Mention (swept the category)
•Best Original Feature Story – 1st and 3rd place
•Best Original Sports Story – 1st and 2nd place
•Best Editorial – 2nd place
•Best Website – 2nd place
•Best Online Advertisement – 1st Place
•General Excellence Award – 2nd place
Out of the 24 awards earned from the March 2021 MFCP advertising competition, 16 of those came from editorial categories.
Over the past four years, the Fillmore County Journal has earned 125 awards in the areas of news, advertising, and online presence from the Midwest Community Free Papers, Minnesota Newspaper Association, and Association of Free Community Papers.
These awards are a reflection of the dedicated and talented staff of this newspaper. And, all of the accomplishments of this newspaper would not be possible without the support of our readers and advertisers.
