On January 26, James Andrew Lindsey, 37 of Stewartville, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter. Lindsey is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both. On or about January 24, the defendant was pulled over for a routine traffic stop. Allegedly found in his vehicle was a felony amount (142.3 grams) of marijuana.
On February 6, Jacob Olias Erickson, 31, of Canton, appeared before District Court Judge Christopher A. Niesen. Erickson is charged with three felonies; Fourth Degree Assault – Peace Officer – Demonstrable Bodily Harm, Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and Attempted Disarming a Peace Officer – Take Defensive Device From Peace Officer/Area Controlled by Officer. The first charge carries a maximum criminal penalty of three years in prison and/or a $6,000 fine, the second a maximum criminal penalty of three years and one day in prison and/or a $5,000, and the third a maximum criminal penalty of two and a half years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. On or about February 4, amidst a traffic stop, the defendant allegedly was uncooperative including throwing ice chunks at and getting into a physical exchange with an officer, allegedly grabbing the officer’s taser and using it against him, and allegedly attempting to flee in his vehicle. A controlled substance was allegedly found at the scene. The officer went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On February 7, Michael Benjamin Burt, 33, of Peterson, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter, Burt is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. On or about February 6, a state patrol officer was dispatched to a call regarding a person allegedly passed out in a vehicle in Rushford. On Burt’s person was allegedly a bag with a crystal-like substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.
On February 13, Brent Scott Erickson, 29 of Ostrander, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter. Erickson is charged with two counts of Felony Domestic Assault, Commit Act With Intent to Cause Fear and Inflicts or Attempts to Inflict Bodily Harm. Each are felonies with maximum criminal penalties of five years in prison and/or $10,000 fines. On or about February 12, a Fillmore County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Ostrander. The defendant had allegedly forcefully throttled his mini-bike into a victim while also shoving the person. Erickson has previously been convicted of Interference with an Emergency Telephone Call and 4th Degree Assault.
On February 17, Christopher Michael Diercks, 41 of Rochester, appeared before District Court Judge Carol M. Hanks. Diercks is charged with Domestic Assault – By Strangulation, a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of three years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. On or about February 15, a Preston Police officer was dispatched to a domestic disturbance. The defendant, amidst a fight with a significant other, allegedly grabbed the victim around the neck.
On February 27, Lonnie Jerome Lee, 64, of Rochester, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter. Lee is charged with six felonies; Harassment; Restraining Order – Violate Within Ten Years of First of Two Previous Domestic Violence Convictions/Adjudications, Stalking – Engages in Stalking, and four counts of Harassment – Third or Subsequent Violation in Ten Years. The first charge carries a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both. The last five counts each carry a maximum criminal penalty of ten years in prison and/or $20,000 fines. On or about February 6, a Fillmore County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched for a possible HRO violation. Lee allegedly spoke to, visited, texted, and sent Facebook messages to the victim. Said contact is in violation of a Harassment Restraining Order issued in June of 2022. The defendant has a history of violating restraining orders.
