On July 15, Keith Allen Butler, 38 of Stewartville, appeared before District Court Judge Carol M. Hanks. Butler is charged with Domestic Abuse – Violates Two or More Orders For Protection Within Ten Years of Previous Conviction/Adjudication of Delinquency. It is a felony that carries a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both. On or about July 14, a Fillmore County deputy was made aware of an alleged Violation of an Order for Protection in progress. Butler was allegedly in the home of a protected victim. Under the Order for Protection issued in August of 2020, the defendant is not to have contact with the victim including staying two blocks away from her residence. The defendant is not to enter or stay at her residence for any reason, even if invited to do so. When the deputy arrived, the defendant’s pickup (plates run) was allegedly at the residence. Butler was allegedly found in the bedroom and taken into custody. He has prior convictions for 3rd Degree Criminal Sexual Assault, violation of two Domestic Assault No Contact Orders, and for violation of an Order for Protection.
