On May 8, Demetrius Bryce Nailing, 56, of Canton, appeared before District Court Judge Matthew J. Opat. Nailing is charged with two felonies, Terroristic Threats – Reckless Disregard Risk, and Domestic Assault – By Strangulation. The first count carries a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both, the second count a maximum penalty of three years in prison, a $5,000 fine, or both. On or about May 6, a Fillmore County sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Canton in regards to a 911 call with no one on the other side of the line. Dispatch advised there was screaming in the background and the call was ended. The alleged victim told the deputy the defendant had allegedly assaulted her, including having his hands around her throat. The defendant also allegedly told the victim he would kill her if she didn’t leave the premises.
