On October 29, Dakota Ray Janning, 22 of Austin, appeared before District Court Judge Matthew J. Opat. Janning is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both. On or about October 28, within the city of Chatfield, an officer was dispatched to the Cenex Gas Station in response a suspicious vehicle occupied by individuals “tweaking.” The officer allegedly observed that Janning was disorientated and that his license came back revoked. When Janning exited the vehicle, the officer allegedly noticed a capered syringe in the door pocket. Found on Janning’s person was allegedly a small clear bag with a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine (0.8 grams). The defendant has two prior felony drug convictions (5th Degree Possession and 3rd Degree Sale or Narcotic).
