At the August 25 Fillmore Central School Board meeting, Superintendent Heath Olstad reported that streaming for the fall sports season has been set up, and families have been learning how to use Bound for athlete registrations. Sixteen students are registered for cross country, 12 for cheerleading, 77 for football, and 25 for volleyball. The baseline concussion testing for athletes has been completed. The Booster Club has been receiving a number of donations. The elementary school will have parent conferences during the first two days of school again, and many parents have already signed up. Kindercamp was held in early August and went very well. The preschool received a grant from Midwest Dairy to purchase farm-themed learning supplies and toys. The daycare is working towards expansion with a sixth room being added to the center.
The minutes of the July 28 meeting were approved, as were the claims.
Resignations were accepted from daycare employee Dominica Weldon, paraprofessional Karen Skretta, and daycare lead teacher Beverly Hahn. Hahn will stay on daycare staff as a substitute. A resolution discharging employee A was accepted. Nancy Broadwater was hired as an extra-curricular paraprofessional, Beth Weedman as a SPED para, Jordan Lea as a full-time custodian, and Karen Skretta as a One Block at a Time worker. The non-certified staff assignments for the 2026-27 school year were reviewed and approved.
The kindergarten milk break prices were set at $20 per semester and $40 for the year, which is the same as last year.
The district’s annual membership with SEMNET was approved for the 2026-27 school year.
The graduate credit reimbursement and salary schedule lane change requests were approved. The master agreement allows certified staff to be reimbursed $60 per credit hour, up to $240 for approved graduate work.
The district’s Post Secondary Enrollment Option, or PSEO, contract with RCTC was approved with no changes from last year.
Some open enrollment requests were approved.
Brandon and Cathy Gossman of Gossman Dirt Work have been working on a tree removal project at the elementary school. The area will be seeded with native grass seed later this year or early next spring. Once snow falls, the Gossmans will return to burn the tree piles. Some of the lumber will be milled and donated to the high school.
