Evelyn Roelofs, age 89 of Preston, Minn., died on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Traditions of Preston, in Preston, Minn.

Evelyn Jean Mensink was born on June 23, 1936, at the Preston Hospital to Earl and Eva (Termaat) Mensink.  Evelyn grew up in Greenleafton, attending Flying Cloud School through the eighth grade, and graduated from Preston High School in 1953.  After high school, Evelyn worked for the Fillmore County Social Services Office and Fillmore County Courthouse.  She went up to Rochester for a brief time for work, but later returned to the Fillmore County Social Services Office in Preston.

Evelyn was a lifetime member of the Greenleafton Reformed Church where she volunteered her time singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and also dedicated many years to teaching catechism.  She met her husband, Lowell Roelofs, also a lifetime member of the church and they were married at the Greenleafton Reformed Church on May 23, 1959.  After marriage, Evelyn and Lowell worked together on their dairy farm and had three sons.  She was a devoted wife and mother, ensuring that the family had the important things in life.  Evelyn was active in her community.  She volunteered with the Minnesota Farm Bureau, 4-H, and the Women’s Church Association.

Evelyn is survived by her children Bruce (Anne) Roelofs of Cresco, Iowa, Brian (Sue) Roelofs of Lanesboro, Minn., and Brent Roelofs of Preston, Minn.; grandchildren Jen (Chad) Milosevich, Jake (Karley) Roelofs, Sam Roelofs, Lauren Roelofs, Garrett (Ciara) Roelofs and Hayden Roelofs; great-grandchildren Madison and Morgan Milosevich, brother Loyal (Alayna) Mensink, sisters-in-law Eileen Mensink, Cleo Mensink, Caroline Mensink and Charlene Mensink; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lowell, and brothers Wendell, Royce, Lyall  and Elwyn.

Service for Evelyn will be at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church, with Pastor Todd Bush officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church and will continue for one hour prior to the start of the service on Wednesday.  Burial will be at Greenleafton Cemetery.
