Evelyn Osland obituary, Fillmore County JOurnal

Evelyn Elaine Fitzgerald Osland, age 91, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Rochester, Minn.

Evelyn was born on July 27, 1934, in Lime Springs, Iowa, to Cecil and Edna (Jensen) Fitzgerald. She attended school in Lime Springs and Chester, graduating from Chester High School in 1952, and later from Hamilton School of Business in Mason City in 1953.

Evelyn began working in 1953 at L.S. Donaldson Company in Rochester, Minn., in the audit department. On October 9, 1954, she married Harold Osland at Chester Methodist Church. Together, they lived on the Osland family farm for 50 years, where she embraced farm life and family. After Harold’s passing, she continued to live on the farm for another 20 years. She served as Beaver Township Clerk from 2004-2018. She was active in community and church organizations, including Presbyterian Women and the Minnesota Soil and Water Auxiliary, where she served as president and represented Minnesota at a national convention in Reno, Nev. Evelyn enjoyed reading, puzzles, travel and genealogy. A highlight was visiting Denmark to explore her family’s roots and see where her grandparents and great-grandparents were all baptized and married. She especially cherished time with her family and hosting Osland reunions. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were especially important to her.

She is survived by her children Alan (Carol) Osland of Stewartville, Minn., Elaine (David) Berryman of Eagan, Minn., and Karen (Scott) Barden of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren: Joseph (Katie) Osland, Daniel (Rachel) Osland, Scott (Lisa) Osland, Rachel (Matt Frankel) Berryman, Kelsey (Aleksi Moran) Berryman, and Sarah (Brendan) Melberry; great-grandchildren Jacob Osland, Emily Osland, Zoey Osland, Watson Osland, and Brooklyn Frankel; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Harold in 2004.

Funeral service for Evelyn was held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church in LeRoy, Minn., with Rev. Dixie Laube officiating. Visitation was from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial was at Bethlehem Cemetery.
