Fillmore County Journal - Eva Bakken Obituary

Eva S. Bakken, 94, of Rushford, died of natural causes April 28, 2020.

She was born May 1, 1925, in Winona, Minn., to Martha and Arthur Rasmussen.  She attended and graduated school in Peterson.  On December 20, 1941, she married Layne O. Randall at the United Methodist Church in Winona. Layne died in 1993 one month prior to celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary. In 2002, Eva married Melbourn Bakken of Austin Minn., and they resided there until his death. Following an illness in 2013 Eva chose to move into Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, where she resided until her death.  Eva was employed by Lanesboro Schools doing laundry for the athletic teams and playground aide.  Later in life she obtained her CNA and worked at various local nursing homes. After her retirement, she and Layne managed various rental properties until his passing. Eva was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro.

Eva is survived by a son, Lew (Jo) Randall of Preston and five daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Jim) Enzenauer and Delaine (Mrs. Alton) Erickson of Preston, Pat (Mrs. John) Lorenz of Stewartville, Kathleen (Mrs. Jeff) Hebl of Lanesboro and Lori (Mrs. Curt) Harland of Austin; 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

A family celebration of life will be at a later date. At Eva’s request her body was donated to Mayo Research.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home for all of the wonderful care that they provided for Eva over the years she resided there.
