Eugene Lundak obituary, Fillmore County JOurnal

Eugene R. “Gene” Lundak, 81, of Houston, Minn., passed away on October 15, 2025. Born July 12, 1944, in Cresco, Iowa, Gene dedicated his life to education, service, and uplifting others.

A lifelong learner, Gene earned multiple degrees  – including a doctorate after his retirement – and spent most of his career teaching Math and Computer Science at Winona State University. He was also active in civic groups like the Lions Club, Odd Fellows, and Kiwanis, always ready to lend a hand.

Gene found joy in bowling and later in clowning, sharing laughter and kindness wherever he went. He was known for his generous spirit and willingness to help.

He is survived by his wife Sherry, children Steda and Levi (Kimberly), stepchildren Terry (Laurie) and Larry (Tracey), brother David, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Irene, and brother John.

A memorial service will be held on October 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the American Cancer Society.

Hoff Funeral Home Houston is assisting the family. Please visit www.hofffuneral.com to leave an online condolence.

Gene was a very intense and dedicated teacher. I learned a lot even when my grades were not the best in high school. He was always patient with me and explained until I got it. Rest in peace Gene!
