Esther Ida Ronnenberg, 95, of Rushford, Minn., died on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Esther Ida Oldendorf was born on August 14, 1925, in Hart Township, Winona County, Minn., to Hubert and Clara (Grapentine) Oldendorf.
Esther was raised in Hart Township, attended Hart School District #48, and later attended German School in Hart. Esther married Elmer Ronnenberg on May 6, 1944. They farmed their entire career in the Lewiston area and retired in Rushford. Esther had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed embroidery, playing 500 and 500 Rummy, fishing by Park Rapids, Minn., cutting beans and kohlrabi from the garden, “Wheel of Fortune,” “Price is Right,” “Days of Our Lives,” and scratch off lottery tickets.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband Elmer, grandson Rick Pelowski, two brothers, Harold (Butch) and Frederick (Fritz); sister Dorothy, and her parents.
She is survived by her five children: Jeannette Colbenson of Rushford, Shirley (James) Pelowski of Utica, Allen Ronnenberg of Winona, Garry (Diane) Ronnenberg of Rushford, and Debra (Roger) Holm of Rushford.
Esther is also survived by eight grandchildren: Ann (Mike) Hallum, Susan (Marc) Fournier, Barb (Scott) Bartelson, Tara King, Cori Ronnenberg, Heath (Jenny) Ronnenberg, Ryan (Sarah) Holm, Nathan (Kaitlin) Holm; 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Betty Ann Brand and LuAnne Ronnenberg, and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hart at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021, with the Reverend Mark Triplett officiating.
